   What We Are Learning
Reading: Our 4th graders have been working extremely hard on the ELA MCAS this week.  They have been using all of their reading and writing strategies that they’ve learned this year.   They should be very proud of their hard work!
Writing: Students have been learning about perspective, or point of view.  We read the book Officer Buckle and Gloria, which is told from a police officer’s point of view.  Students then practiced writing the story from his police dog’s point of view.  They had a lot of fun with this activity!
Math:  We are finishing our unit on fractions and will be moving on to decimals next.  Even though the chapter on fractions has been a rigorous one, the students have shown a lot of progress. With their understanding of fractional numbers, we anticipate the kids making a smooth transition into the chapter on decimals.  At home, remember to relate decimals to money!
Social Studies & Writing In a multidisciplinary activity, students will be researching the climate, geography, industry, and natural resources of a region in the United States.
